Dear Friend of MNRFC,
RE-UNION WITH BUFFET LUNCHEON: SATURDAY 6 April 2019
Looking forward to part 2 of the 2018/9 season, on behalf of MNRFC I would like to invite you to Norton Down for a re-union of former Players, Friends, Benefactors, Sponsors and Supporters from 12.30pm on 6 April 2019, when a Buffet Luncheon will be available and the bar open.
MNRFC are delighted to be entertaining old friends and arch rivals Chew Valley RFC on the day, for what should be a great afternoon of rugby, kick-off 15.00hrs. As you may well know MNRFC are playing very creditably in Tribute Western Counties North and as I write sit on top of the pile, with our visitors Chew Valley breathing down our combined necks. This looks a particularly tasty fixture as Chew Valley comprehensively beat Norton at theirs last month [December], when they played some clinical and fast rugby in atrocious conditions [and Norton did not]. On the bright side that was only Norton’s second defeat of the season.
Tom Fear is definitely enjoying his second season as captain with our ever present tight head prop Dan Jenner in the Vice Captain roll. Martin Blackmore and his panel of senior players and helpers has really upped the ante for the squad, with better fitness swinging tight games.
MNRFC continues to field 3 no teams on most Saturdays, with Julian Hawkins still holding the reins of the young and vibrant 2nd XV and Ian Tiley still working his magic with the 3rd team. Fixtures [especially for the 2nds] are proving difficult to organise so there may be some chopping and changing there, Adi Rideout [Fixture Secretary] is on the case. The Junior Section goes from strength to strength as a quick visit to Norton Down on a Sunday morning will prove, though you might find parking a bit challenging.
As always please would you make the effort to contact others who you may have played with or socialised with over the years to check if they have had this letter too? If they haven’t - then we haven’t got their details so could you provide them and help us to update our records? We need accurate numbers for catering purposes, so if you do wish to attend please confirm. If you are able to offer financial assistance via a donation or grant please get in touch. There are still numbers available for the 200 Club, again your support is vital, so please let me know and I’ll sign you up, £5.00 per month by standing order.
I very much hope you will be able to join us on Saturday 6 April 2019, please reply to me by completing the attached form and returning it by 1 April 2019 or you can e-mail – your presence on the day will be greatly appreciated by us all. Please note my newish email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
All best wishes,
Nigel Rowles President MNRFC Ltd
