Preparations for the new season are already underway at Midsomer Norton.
Over the weekend of 23rd/24th June, the club took part in NatWest RugbyForce 2018.
This is a nationwide program, in partnership with the RFU, which helps local rugby clubs improve their facilities. There was a very healthy turnout over the course of the project as social and club members joined together to upgrade the clubhouse facilities for the coming season.
Pre-season training has now commenced on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7 p.m. Coach, Martin Blackmore, and Captain, Tom Fear, are looking to actively encourage new membership of players of all ages and abilities to give rugby a try.
The Club which was established in 1936 is now in its 82nd season. This season, Midsomer Norton RFC will field three Senior sides, with the First XV taking part in the highly-competitive Western Counties North Division, the Second XV competing in Somerset Two (North) and the Third XV competing in Somerset Three (South) and the Bath Combination Merit league.
Midsomer Norton RFC is looking to recruit new senior players who have moved to the area, those who have played before and would like to return, or those who fancy trying their hand at a new sport.
The Club also has a thriving Junior Section, which has over 230 members and provides coaching, training and competitive games for boys and girls from seven to twelve in its Mini Section on Sunday mornings. There are also teams for each age group from Under-Thirteens to Under-Eighteens.
