Age Grade Rugby Code of Practice 2017
Age Grade Rugby is based on the principles of being player centred, development driven and competition supported. The wants and needs of young people are at its heart. It puts player enjoyment above all else in order to keep more young people enjoying the game for longer and into their adult years. To reinforce this the RFU has developed the new RFU Age Grade Code of Practice and this can be found on the England RFU website -
“Within the Code of Practice, what was formally described as ability streaming is now covered in section 3.
This section puts emphasis on ALL players being given EQUAL access to coaching, training time and playing opportunities. Currently MNRFC only operate one side at each junior age group, when the time arises that there is more than one team, MNRFC are committed to continuing to apply England Rugby’s guidance, as we do today.”
It is important to us as a club that our players continue to have access to the game and the appropriate ways to address this is covered in the Club's new Coaching Policy.
Section 7 of the Code of Practice covers minimum standards for coaches on pages 26 and 27.
This is something that Rob Kernutt the Club’s Coaching Co-ordinator is working on to ensure that all coaches are given the opportunity to adhere to, and the Club has outlined these minimum standards in the new Coaching Policy. You can find an up to date copy on the club website-
