Midsomer Norton U15's 44 - Clevedon U15's 7

13th Jan 2019

On a cold, windy morning at Norton Down, the home side stared strongly against the wind with Number 8 Hugo bursting through tackles to score the opening try. Straight from the kick off Norton built up the phases and with the ball being span wide George finished off a great team try with Rhys making the score 12-0 with the conversion.

With the game starting to settle down both sides exchanged possession with Norton making some big tackles in defence and Clevedon never giving up. The ball then found touch for a Clevedon lineout which was won by the visiting side and only when they tried to spin the ball wide Norton flanker Tom intercesping the ball strolled in to make the score 17-0.

Norton were now finding gaps and running hard with support in abundance, it was only the final pass that let them down. With 5 minutes of the half remaining scrum half Ben evaded 3 or 4 would be tackles and ran in unopposed from 22 metres to score under the posts. Rhys added the extras to make the score 24-0.

Clevedon rallied and ended the half strongly making the Norton defence concede penalties and it was only a matter of time before they got over the line which the center did. The kicker added the extra 2 points to bring the half to a close to make the score 24-7.

Norton controlled the majority of the 2nd half scoring 4 more tries Kyron started off the scoring from close range for his first ever try for Norton. Norton's back line again found themselves in space to allow George in for his 2nd of the match, this made the score 34-7. Connor then helped himself to a try with some strong leg work to drive over the line, and Josh finished of the scoring with a fine finish, sidestepping his opposite winger to score in the corner.
